Insect Invaders: Be a Citizen Scientist and Learn How to Report Invasive Insects

Come join the Entomological Society of Alberta and City of Calgary Parks Programming staff at Ralph Klein Park & Environmental Education Centre for a family-friendly, hands-on event where you can learn all about invasive insects! Become a citizen scientist and help protect our environment by learning how to identify and report invasive species.

Bring an internet-capable device to learn how to snap photos to upload on iNaturalist and practice identication skills learned in the centre during a guided exploration of the park.

It's recommended that the whole family come out for this workshop, but participant age of 8+ is recommended.

An internet-capable electronic device (eg cellphone or tablet), water, sun protection, and a snack.

Recommended age range?

Bring the whole family, however presentations will be delivered for an audience 8+ years in age. Younger attendees might need more help understanding some of the concepts.

How much experience do I need?

None! This workshop has something to offer hungry, hungry caterpillars, fully-fledged butterflies and all experience levels in-between.
