OpenGov Hub is pleased to host this Brown Bag Lecture that will delve into initiatives for local implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. The speakers will be Diana Lopez Caramazana, Head of Local Governments at UN-Habitat, and Juana Lopez Pagan, the Director of International Relations at the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces.
Diana and Juana will be presenting a new initiative called Urban GLASS - Governing with the Citizen, which addresses the need for support of local governments around the world to achieve more transparent and accountable cities. The project is setting up an alliance to work with cities and local governments to improve communication with citizens and to apply innovation and smart technologies into muncipal finance and management. Diana Lopez Caramazana is the Head of Local Governments at UN-Habitat, the United Nations Program for cities and urban development. She has been working for more than 15 years at the UN in issues related to local governance and the role of local governments in the global scene.
Juana Lopez Pagan is the Director of International Relations at the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, which represents 8,000 Spanish entities and has a long tradition of cooperation with Latin America and the Mediterranean in issues related to strenghtening local governments and public service delivery. She has a PHD in transparency issues applied to local administration.
