Event description

Headlines in the past few years have been filled with disease outbreak and spread events that have impacted large portions of our global population. Concerns for agents of natural origin introduced through nefarious means continue to elevate with time. The likelihood that such events will continue with potential for increased devastation and disruption to society is high. This is a true challenge to community health and a daunting task for health care providers. But it is also a challenge that can be met by combined efforts in science, technology and methods of advancement and implementation of diagnostic, therapeutic and preventative interventions.

Join speakers Heidi Nelson-Keherly, Ph.D., Executive Director of Preclinical Research at CSSi LifeSciences™, and Raymond Goodrich, Executive Director of the Infectious Disease Research Center, for our webinar: Innovation in Infectious Disease Research: Challenges & Opportunities. The goal of this online event is to share ideas, discuss topics of interest in the field of infectious disease research and foster dialogue on ways that we may convert the challenges that we collectively face today into opportunities to improve the human condition.

During this webinar, Heidi and Raymond will:

  • Provide an overview of preclinical vaccine development
  • Outline the major steps required for commercializing a vaccine, including details from the discovery phase as well as the manufacturing and safety studies needed for the Investigational New Drug filing
  • Provide an overview of research and facility capabilities at Colorado State University in infectious disease research programs
  • Describe the Regional Biocontainment Lab (RBL), Research Innovation Center (RIC) and Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing and Academic Resource Center (BioMARC) at CSU
  • Encourage and foster connections and collaborations related to research and development programs for infectious diseases and related emerging threats to public health
  • Foster dialogue and discourse aimed at solving problems related to human and animal diseases, including development of therapeutic, diagnostic and vaccine approaches in response to existing and emerging public health threats

The registration deadline for this event is May 9, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. EST. If you have any questions regarding the webinar, feel free to contact Courtney Megaughey at

While you're at it, please consider registering for BioMARC's upcoming Innovation in Infectious Disease Research: Challenges & Opportunities Symposium at Colorado State University (CSU) in Fort Collins, Colorado from June 7-9, 2017 -
