The MCLI Innovation and Entrepreneurship Series is in its 3rd year and includes a 2022-2023 partnership with Phoenix Forge, the largest makerspace in the Southwest powered by Gateway Community College. Individuals are invited to participate in one, or all, of the events that combine innovation and entrepreneurship skills with a creative maker experience. How might these events inspire and inform your journey into making, innovation and entrepreneurship, and what might you create next at Phoenix Forge?

No previous making or design experience is needed to enjoy this workshop - join us!

Space is limited, so please register for one of the following sessions;

1. November 4, 2022 (2-4pm)

I/Change Agent: Sharing Our Talents for Leading Change

Content: Branding/LinkedIn and Vinyl Cutter

* Participants will design their personal branding

* Participants will use the vinyl cutter to assemble their First Fridays at Phoenix Forge t-shirt

2. December 2, 2022 (2-4pm)

Problem Solving: Overcoming the Status Quo with Purpose

Content: Design Thinking and Laser Cutter with Business Card Holder

* Participants will learn how to apply design thinking to life, making, innovating and entrepreneurship

* Participants will use the laser cutter to create a business card holder

3. March 3, 2023 (2-4pm)

Planning and Implementation: Looking Ahead Ready to Adapt

Content: Traditional/Emergent Planning and Storytelling with Vinyl Cutter and Dot (the modern business card)

* Participants will learn a process that leverages both traditional and emergent planning

* Participants will use the vinyl cutter to customize a Dot - the modern business card that can be connected with LinkedIn and other social media profiles for easy networking

4. April 7, 2023 (2-4pm)

Expansion: Growing Impact

Content: Coaching for Engagement and Laser Cutter with Mug (in addition to a Cool Box that is pre-laser cut for assembly!)

* Participants will learn how coaching skills can contribute to increased impact

* Participants will learn about the laser cutter process applied to a quality hot/cold mug

* Participants will customize a “cool box” that is pre-laser cut for assembly (i.e., Imagine how groups you are part of could customize this experience in the future)

Attention MCCCD Faculty members -

As each of these sessions may become approved for FPG , know that in order to receive 2 clock hours toward FPG non-academic advancement each faculty member must;

- Sign in within 15 minutes of the scheduled program start time.

- Sign out at the end of the event.

- Complete the evaluation and assessment by 4:00 pm on the day following the event that you have attended. (You will receive this email after attending the session )

- Complete and submit for Faculty Professional Growth Non-Academic clock hours

- For Adjunct Faculty : an electronic Professional Growth dynamic form within 30 days (adjunct) of the last day of the event

- For Residential Faculty - application for Faculty Professional Growth within 90 days (residential) of the event.
