About the Conference

According to a 2017 report by the McKinsey Global Institute, gender gaps in Canada could take anywhere between 30 and 180 years to close. Despite being a leader in women’s equality globally, the last 20 years have not seen the kind of gains we would expect of an advanced industrial economy.

The recent focus on a “business case” for diversity has dominated discussions of gender and equity in corporations across North America, but with limited real impact. If the promise of profit is still not enough to motivate a move towards inclusion, how can we hope to increase the representation of women in business?

At Innovaction: Designing for Equality and Change we are moving beyond the business case - from conversation to action. In reframing gender equality as an innovation challenge, we invite panelists, facilitators and attendees to take a closer look at current systems, practices and tools that are being used in both industry and research to facilitate inclusion.

This day-long conference will give attendees both an opportunity to hear from industry, as well as the chance to participate in the design of new solutions through a Co-Creation Session. Here, attendees will collaborate with industry professionals using Business Design principals to create innovative solutions for gender equality issues that exist in the workplace.

Join us for an action-packed day of collaboration, learning and design on January 31, 2018.
All genders welcome.

Launched in 2017, the first Canadian Graduate Women in Management Conference had as its inaugural theme: “Men as Allies and the parity proposition.” More than 100 MBA students and industry professionals attended.
