This CLE/CPE/CE course will review the law and procedures applicable to requests for relief from joint tax liabilities pursuant to IRC Section 6015 (i.e., representing the innocent spouse). It will also review some of the most frequently litigated tax issues related to divorce and separation. Although this is a stand-alone seminar, it is part of the A & A Tax Controversy series. The goal of each component of the series is to (a) review the best practices for tax controversy professionals, and (b) review IRC sections tested by the United States Tax Court Admission Exam for Non-Attorneys.
The seminars are free (i.e., there is no cost to attend). Tax Professionals that attend the seminar and/or the series are encouraged to accept a pro bono tax controversy case assignments from Rutgers Law School, a Low Income Tax Clinic, VITA, an ABA-sponsored Tax Court Pro Bono program.
