Event description

Description

Join us at the Avian Conservation Center for an introduction to the Avian Medical Clinic's Transport Volunteer program. Learn about our Injured Bird Transport Network and how you can become an Injured Bird Transport Volunteer.

The Avian Medical Clinic receives more than 600 injured wild birds of prey and shore birds each year. In order to provide those birds with the highest level of medical and rehabilitative care, the Center relies on a large network of individuals located throughout the state who volunteer their time to assist with this process.

These volunteers work within their own geographic area and, after receiving instruction in the principals and techniques essential to the safe capture and transport of injured birds of prey and some shore birds, they are responsible for bringing injured birds to the Avian Medical Clinic from throughout the state.

During this workshop, you will learn the basic techniques for transporting injured wild birds from the field to the Avian Medical Clinic. This is a Level One training program for those interested in learning this basic procedure. Level Two training for those interested in assisting with capture will take place at another time.
