Fri, April 21, 2017, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM CDT
There has been a growing body of research on Social Emotional Learning (SEL) in recent years that has brought to the forefront what we all know; SEL is important in the growth and development of young people. We know that the quality of a program impacts young people, but how do we take the next step to become more intentional about creating opportunities for young people that develop these skills.
This session will focus on two of the six SEL Skills identified through the Preparing Youth To Thrive Initiative conducted in partnership between eight exemplary programs, the Susan Crown Exchange and the David P. Weikart Center for Youth Program Quality.
Staff will learn strategies to support youth as they grow skills to:
- Take action, sustain motivation, and persevere through challenge toward an identified goal
- Plan, strategize and implement complex tasks
