Description

The Scientific Office of the Embassy of France in the USA is partnering with the Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA, and with the Institut de la Vision in Paris, France, to organize a comprehensive Symposium on Inherited Retinal Dystrophies.

The scientific organizers are Prof José-Alain Sahel (Director, Vision Institute, Paris France - Chair, Department of Ophthalmology, University of Pittsburgh) and Prof Michael Gorin (Chief of the Retinal Disorders and Ophthalmic Genetics Division in the Department of Ophthalmology at the David Geffen School of Medicine – UCLA).

The Objectives are to address issues that would facilitate the development of new treatments for IRD through the facilitation of academic, pharma and patient relationships.

This is going to be a one-of-a-kind meeting with a fully comprehensive approach of IRDs. Topics will notably include: epidemiology, genetics, clinical trial design and conduct, gene therapy, cell therapy, pharmacological tools, methods for vision restoration.

Talks will be given by scientists from France and the USA, as well as by startup companies from both countries, with the aim of facilitating the translation of basic research into application.

This conference is part of a series called "French American Innovation Days" (FAID). FAIDs are high-level events events organized by the Scientific Office of the Embassy of France in the United States where researchers and companies have the opportunity to exchange views on a specific technological issue.
The goal of the program is to facilitate the development of innovation ties between France and America by bringing together scientists, companies and other interested stakeholders from both France and the United States.
