Infrared Madness-June 2nd-June 4th
Fri, June 2, 2017, 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM MST
Learn the secrets in shooting and editing infrared images in beautiful Tucson Arizona. We will start our first night with an introduction to Infrared. How it works, what we will be shooting, settings and what to look for that will make a great shot. We will go over everyone's gear and the itinerary for the next 2 days.
We will start at 3pm June 2nd at Regus, One South Church Avenue, Suite 1200, Tucson, 85701. We will go over our itinerary and starting point for the next day's shooting schedule.
On day 2 we will go to the Saguaro National Park to spend the morning and part of the afternoon shooting. We will take a short break for lunch and then go to Mt. Lemmon to shoot the interesting trees and rock formations there. We will then break for the evening. If anyone is interested, we can go shoot color images of sunset later in the evening.
Day 3 we are back at Regus to go over what we shot and do the editing for our final images. We will be working in both Lightroom and in Photoshop. I will have a small action for you to load into photoshop and you will learn to do a Red/Blue swap or you can work in Black and White. I recommend Nik Software that you can get for free from Google and use it for your images. We will be done with class by 3pm
This is an advanced class. You will need to know how to set your camera in manual, set your white balance and shoot in RAW.
I only bring out 10 or less students so make sure you sign on early!
What is not included: Lodging, airfare, and transportation to meeting areas are up to you. Travel to the destinations for photography will be provided.
Meals: You will be responsible for your own meals and when we eat at lunch on Saturday. On the trail I will provide light snacks and water that will be handed out before we leave. If you need anything special because dietary needs, you are responsible for your own food needs.
Photoshop, Lightroom, RAW conversion and general post-processing instruction time will be available on the last day of the workshop.
What to bring.
Your DSLR and a Wide angle lens.- I would recommend coming with an infrared converted camera. A converted camera is much easier to work with than the filters. Kolari Vision is who I recommend for conversions. Go there to get educated on the best choice for your camera. www.KolariVisions.com
The infrared filter that you will be working with if your camera is not converted. I will not have filters available for use. You can find them very inexpensive on Amazon. Make sure you get the filter that fits your lens. Please consider a conversion if you can.
Your card reader.
Good walking shoes
A lightweight but sturdy tripod.
Lots of batteries and memory for your camera
Cleaning kit for your lenses and sensor
A backpack for your gear.
Your camera owner's manual.
Sunscreen and bug spray
