A Roundtable for Archivists on Wikipedia Edit-a-thons
Friday, June 25th @ 4 pm
Are you an archivist? Your facility with primary sources combined with your subject matter expertise makes you uniquely qualified to host a Wikipedia edit-a-thon. A portmanteau of “edit” and “marathon” an edit-a-thon is an event where people gather to edit Wikipedia to improve a specific topic or type of content. Join a Museum of Reclaimed Urban Space-hosted roundtable for NYC archivists interested in role of Wikipedia in the open knowledge movement. Speak to other archivists about if, how, when (and for whom!) to hold an edit-a-thon. Learn about the different kinds of Creative Commons licenses to decide if uploading materials if right for your organization. More info or to register: wiki@morusnyc.org
