Favarh – the Arc of the Farmington Valley, in conjunction with Regan Development, are constructing two cutting-edge specialty housing complexes that will give tenants with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) increased independence and privacy in a secure, safe environment, one in Canton and the other in Bloomfield. The affordable developments will be first-in-the-nation housing by incorporating an innovative smart apartment management system to help tenants with IDD safely thrive in a fully integrated setting. These will be demonstration projects designed to show a more cost effective approach to housing that is affordable, integrated, and more independent.

“Families tell me that they want their loved ones to be able to thrive in settings that keep them safe, minimize their vulnerability risks, and easily allows for 2-way visual communication with family members.” said Stephen E. Morris, executive director of Favarh, a nonprofit that supports people with IDD. “Every parent needs to know that their child will have the supports they need to be safe and to flourish after they are gone. We hope these projects will give family’s peace of mind now and peace of mind for the future.”
