Come learn about how Arkansas Asset Builders aims to connect hard-working families with tax refunds and improve the financial health of our community! Tax refunds that include the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) are an important resource for low- and moderate-income families, helping them to get ahead financially, pay down debt and work toward saving for the future. In Faulkner County, AR, the average low-income household tax refund is nearly $2,500, but tax preparation fees and predatory financial products often prevent families from maximizing the refund's value for themselves and their community.
Arkansas Asset Builders will operate a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site in Conway during the 2017 tax filing season. At VITA sites, IRS-trained and certified volunteers work one-on-one with filers to prepare and electronically file state and federal income tax forms at no charge and determine qualifications for tax credits and refunds. We are seeking partners who will help support this important work by spreading the word about our services, volunteering at the tax site, or supporting our work in other financial and material ways. This info session will present more detailed information about the importance of the VITA program to our community, volunteer opportunities during tax season, and the mission of Arkansas Asset Builders.
Another info session is also being offered at the Faulkner County Library, Wednesday, December 7, at 7:30pm (see event details here).
