According to respondents in our global survey, only 35 percent of business objectives can be achieved through individual effort. The rest require influencing and collaborating with others, who may have different ideas, priorities and constraints. Thus, the ability to influence effectively and skillfully, while maintaining and building relationships with colleagues and external partners, is indispensable for achieving results in today’s complex, global and matrixed organizations.

This session will share highlights from a global study on the dynamics and consequences associated with different influence strategies. It will focus on how learning and development organizations, in partnership with the business, can create a culture of using influence as a strategy for joint problem solving (versus manipulation) to drive enhanced organizational performance.

By the end of this session participants will be able to:

  • Gain new insight into common influence pitfalls.
  • Identify the common influence pitfalls that are prevalent in their organization.
  • Learn strategies to build an organizational culture that views influence as joint problem solving.
