Description

Social Emotional Development & Building Collaborative Relationships with Families

The Butte Quality Early Learning Initiative, Step to Quality in partnership with ZERO to THREE presents two exciting learning sessions! If you are currently working with infants and toddlers, you do not want to miss this event. Space is limited.

Session Descriptions:

Social Emotional Development: Social-emotional development begins at birth and continues throughout life. The foundation for healthy social-emotional development laid in the first three years helps a child establish meaningful relationships with parents, caregivers, and peers and supports his or her learning, both in and outside of school. When children experience difficulty in acquiring social-emotional skills, they are at increased risk emotionally, developmentally, and academically.

Building Collaborative Relationships with Families: Early childhood and child care professionals build partnerships with families as an important strategy to promote healthy child development. Building effective relationships with families is the foundation for these partnerships. This session supports relationship building with families by helping professionals to define and practice active listening skills and to understand both the concept of the parallel process in relationships and the importance of reflection. It also aids participants in developing strategies for establishing effective relationships with families.

About your Trainer: Christy Stanton, LCSW is a Senior Content Specialist with ZERO TO THREE. Born and raised in Iowa, Christy has lived in Arizona for the past 25 years since completing her MSW at Arizona State University.
