Induction of labour (IOL) means starting your labour for you artificially. We offer this when it will benefit you or your baby to bring forward the timing of your baby’s birth compared with waiting for labour to start naturally. The aim of IOL is to have a safe vaginal birth. IOL is common – around 25-30% of women who deliver at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust have an induced labour.
This information session will explore your induction options (such as outpatient, hormonal and non-hormonal methods of induction), birth place choices, pain relief, and support.
