Description

Indigenous and forest women are on the frontlines of fighting deforestation and climate change, and they are also on the frontlines of creating solutions.

This session looks to show how indigenous and forest women are organizing themselves and leading actions to address local to global challenges.



Women leaders speaking:

  • Sara Omi - Embera leader and coordinator of the Gender Commission of the Mesoamerican Alliance of Peoples and Forests (AMPB)
  • Cris Pankararu - Pankararu leader and member of the indigenous women march organization committee, Brazil (APIB)
  • Rukka Sombolinggi - Toraya leader and secretary general of the Indigenous Peoples Alliance of the Archipelago, Indonesia (AMAN)
  • Sonia Guajajara - Guajajara leader a coordinator of the Articulation of Indigenous Peoples of Brazil (APIB)
  • Woman representative of the Coordinator of Indigenous Organizations of the Amazon River Basin (COICA)
