Indigenous Voices for Grand Canyon's Next Century
Event Information
Description
A FUTURE OF THE COLORADO PLATEAU FORUM
Grand Canyon National Park's centennial anniversary offers opportunities for indigenous communities to reflect on the park's first 100 years and to consider new ways for tribes, federal agencies, local governments, businesses, teachers, artists, and others to work together in shaping the future of the entire Grand Canyon region. Participants who've been engaged in this intertribal conversation for nearly two years will present individual views about Grand Canyon's past, present and future. This forum will bring the general public into the conversation for the first time. We want to hear from you!
Presenters will include:
* Ed Kabotie, Hopi/Santa Clara Pueblo Artist-in-Residence, Museum of Northern Arizona
* Jamescita Peshlakai, Elected Member, Arizona State Senate
* Jason Nez, Archaeologist, Grand Canyon National Park
* Octavius Seowtewa, Member, A:Shiwi (Zuni) Cultural Resources Advisory Team
* Ophelia Watahomigie-Corliss, Elected Member, Havasupai Tribal Council
* Richard Powskey, Elected Member, Hualapai Tribal Council
