Indigenous Aerospace and Aviation Showcase

About this Event

Tansi,

As you may be aware, the Labour Market Survey that Manitoba Aerospace completed in 2018 indicated that over 2,000 workers will be needed in the local aerospace and aviation industries over the next 3 – 5 years. The 2018 LMI study completed by the Canadian Council for Aviation & Aerospace (CCAA) indicates that Indigenous people are Canada’s most under leveraged human resource asset. Currently, only 4% of Indigenous people self-identify as working in the aerospace and aviation industries in Canada.

Manitoba Aerospace and (CAHRD) Centre for Aboriginal Human Resource Development Inc. are collaborating on a variety of initiatives to ensure that Indigenous people are aware of careers in the local aerospace and aviation industries and of the educational/training pathways to those careers.

Manitoba Aerospace and CAHRD will be hosting a FREE event called ‘Indigenous Aerospace and Aviation Showcase’.

 Wednesday, January 15, 2020 from 11:30 A.M. to 16:00 P.M.

 Location: 181 Higgins Avenue, Winnipeg in the Rotunda

 Target Audience: Indigenous Adult Education Learners living in Winnipeg

 REFRESHMENTS AND PIZZA LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED

 Inspiring Indigenous Keynote Speakers will include;

Pilot; Raven Beardy currently employed with Missinippi Airways

Aircraft Maintenance Engineer; Nicole Kemp currently employed with Keewatin Air

GTR&O Technician ; Shelby Sanderson currently employed with Standard Aero.

Detail Inspector; Kelly Spence currently employed with Standard Aero.

Jamie Wilson, former Deputy Minister of Education, currently a VP with Arctic Gateway Group and Partnership Lead with CAHRD; Kevin Chief will also bring words of inspiration.

We are inviting interested member companies to join us for the event. Member companies can set up booths and have representatives available to talk to people about opportunities in their companies. As the audience will be made up of Indigenous people, we would recommend that you include one or more of your Indigenous employees to help work your booth.

Please join us as we showcase the variety of employment opportunities in our Aerospace and Aviation Industry in Manitoba.
