Event description

Description

Indigenous administrators in higher education face unique challenges. We have some power and jurisdiction within our universities and colleges, but we are often beholden to different and even conflicting ideas of what is good and right within these spaces. We face the ambivalence of striving to do good work within institutions built from and often for colonialism. This NAISA pre-conference event is for Indigenous leaders in university administration such as directors, deans, vice-presidents, AVPs, chairs, assistant and associate deans and their equivalents, with the goal of coming together to collectively think through the tensions unique to our positions.

A pre-conference survey will be circulated to identify the key issues the cohort would like to discuss. Rather than a space of critique (though that will undoubtedly occur!) we are seeking to create a place for community, support, and collective strategy.
