Season Opener: String Extravaganza

October 2, 2022 | 4 pm - Indiana Historical Society

We are pleased to open the 2022-2023 season with a string program curated by IBO's new Orchestra Leader, Adriane Post. String Extravaganza will explore the rise of the concerto grosso, featuring compositions by Arcangelo Corelli, Alessandra Stradella, and Antonio Vivaldi, among others. Join us after the concert for a small reception as we celebrate Adriane's appointment, as well as the retirement of beloved founding-concertmaster Alison Nyquist.

From Concerto to Symphony

November 6, 2022 | 4pm - University of Indianapolis

After three pandemic seasons, Artistic Director Barthold Kuijken will return to Indianapolis to lead From Concerto to Symphony: London > Vienna [via] Berlin & Hamburg in November! Program to feature music by G.F. Handel, Johann Gottlieb Graun, C.P.E. Bach and Franz Benda. Soloist include Barthold Kuijen (Baroque flute), Adriane Post (violin), Erica Rubis (viola da gamba), and Anna Steinhoff (cello).

Let Angel Trumpets Sound

December 4, 2022 | 3pm - Second Presbyterian Church

Dr. Michelle Louer, Conductor

Ring in the holiday season with music for voices and instruments in our annual collaboration with Michelle Louer and Second Presbyterian Church. This year's program will feature music by J.S. Bach, Heinrich Schutz, George Philipp Telemman, and Antonio Vivaldi, in addition to selections from Handel's Messiah. (Yes! There will be trumpets!). We are also pleased to offer the second annual production of education event Getting a Handel on Messiah the morning of December 4.

Towards Mozart

February 26, 2023 | University of Indianapolis

Following several pandemic-reschedules, we are pleased to present Towards Mozart on the 2022-2023 season. In this program, we present one of Mozart’s mature works, the favorite D major flute concerto KV 314, alongside pieces by composers Franz Xaver Richter and Carl Ditters von Ditterdorf, which represent several strands of influence in Mozart's development as a composer. IBO Artistic Director Barthold Kuijken will be the featured soloist.

St. John Passion

April 1, 2023 | Christ Church Cathedral

We are pleased to partner with Christopher Caruso Lynch and the choirs of Christ Church Cathedral to present J.S. Bach's St. John Passion. A favorite for passion season, this performance will feature soloists from Christ Church Cathedral, in addition to the cathedral's young choristers.

IIBC Laureate Series

May 21, 2023 | 4pm - Indiana Historical Society

Our 2022-2023 season will close on May 21 with our annual IIBC Laureate Series concert. These series features past finalists of the Indianapolis International Baroque Competition, which IBO co-presents with Indy Early Music every four year. Each year, IBO invited one laureate to curate and lead a chamber music concert. More information about this year's laureate will be available in the fall of 2022.
