The Willow Project

Proceeds of the children's festival will go towards The Willow Project.

The Willow Project is a community fund founded by friends and supporters which launched immediately after Lynn's diagnosis. The mission of The Willow Project is to raise essential funds for the Gulli family and absorb the financial burden, while Lynn valiantly fights childhood cancer.

All funds raised will go directly towards Lynn’s care and will support her family through this crisis, eventually getting them properly back on their feet. At this time, the additional costs to the Gullis seems insurmountable, and no family should have to face this alone. Lynn’s mom, Cindy, has quit her full-time job so that she can be available to Lynn 24-hours a day. As the chemo takes effect, Lynn will become weak and hugely susceptible to infection resulting in inevitable visits to the ER. In addition, the family needs to relocate within a few weeks to a home that is more appropriate for Lynn's care.

The Greenwich community is known for its generosity, philanthropy and family values. The Willow Project aims to harness the power of this community to provide foundational support for Lynn Willow Gulli's journey to overcoming cancer.

Lynn's Story

Lynn Willow Gulli is a quintessential 7-year old – the perfect combination of sassy, fearless and tender kindhearted soul.

On Sunday, April 23rd 2017, Lynn's life was turned upside down when she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. After 3 to 4 weeks of not feeling well (+strep throat, fevers, lethargy, etc.) Lynn’s mom, Cindy, requested blood work through her local Greenwich pediatrician which alarmingly revealed an extremely low blood count of both red and white blood cells as well as platelets. Cindy and Lynn’s father, Rocco, rushed to Julian Curtiss Elementary School where Lynn was attending an ordinary day in her 2nd grade class, and drove her to Yale New Haven Children's Hospital. Lynn was immediately admitted that Friday, April 21st, had a bone marrow aspiration (from her hip) on Saturday, and her diagnosis was confirmed by Sunday. Within two days, a port was implanted and an aggressive chemotherapy cocktail was started.

Lynn has now entered a treatment plan which will last 2 to 3 years and include regularly scheduled trips back to Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital. Her immune system will be severely compromised, and the family will need to be inexplicably vigilant with her care. We have no doubt that Lynn will fight this fight with tremendous strength and a big heart.
