Description

Indian Salli was the Native American Indian girl given to the Amish in the early pioneer days for what is believed to have been a gift to replace the life the natives had taken in the Hochstetler massacre in Berks County Pennslavana , the first Amish settlement in America. Indaian Salli was from the Lenni Lenape (later called deleware Indians) natives gifted and raised Amish. She married a Andrew Schrock, son of John Schrock who immigrated to America. 8 generations later there are a lot of Amish and none Amish alike that are descendants from Indian Salli (her name changed from Salli to Sarah when she got married). This is the 2nd celebration banquet for all Indian Salli descendants and others who have native ancestors.Speakers will be talking about history and relive the peculiar life of Indian Salli. Meal will be early pioneer days traditional thanksgiving meal. History of Indian Salli will be relived. And weather permitting a visit to Indian Salli's graveside.
