Indian Hill Manor and Farm is an example of a "country gentleman's farm", a rural retreat from the city that was popular among wealthy families during the early 1900s.
The manor and coach house were designed by noted Rockford architect, Charles W. Bradley. Founded in 1854, his firm, now known as Bradley and Bradley, is still one of Rockford's preeminient architectural firms. The manor is an example of early Colonial Revival architecture and includes many of the modern conveniences of the day. A built-in vacuum cleaner system, intercom, electric stove, and commercial gas dryer for laundry were all features of the house.
