UNIVERSAL RHYTHM, SKYLIGHT YOGA, AND INHALE MIAMI PRESENT:
INDIA: AS IT IS
ART BASEL 2016 INDIAN CULTURE EXHIBITION
SUNDAY DECEMBER 4 6pm to 11pm

Art-Yoga-Music-Food-Knowledge...from India.

A multimedia exhibit, INDIA: AS IT IS creates complete sensory immersion into the mystical birthplace of Yoga, Hindustani music, knowledge and culture. Visuals projected onto floating picture frames depict a view of the country not often found in travel guides. Extreme poverty and wealth, extreme pleasure and pain, the nature of duality itself is reflected in the images. Surround sound audio of field recordings fills the space and draws one deeper into the immersion. The vast reservoir of Yogic knowledge explored in embodiment of the teachings. The senses of smell, the scent of "agarbathi" and taste through authentic Indian cuisine completes the immersion. Participants will connect to their sixth sense by gathering in "satsang", or "accompanied by truth" to close the evening. The evening will begin with classical Raja Yoga at 6:30-8:00PM to open and connect with our visible and invisible, physical and subtle bodies. Guest will also look forward to a live concert performance of Indian-influenced experimental music by Fernando Subirats and Classical Raag by Rajesh Ramoutar and Rajesh Bhandari.

ABOUT THE PRESENTERS:

FERNANDO SUBIRATS:
Fernando Subirats is a multi-dimensional, multi-instrumentalist whose soul’s journey has taken him to both far away lands and deep within his own consciousness. A lover of love, a bringer of joy to others, he devotes his life to manifesting creativity and sharing it with the world. He does this with the intention of igniting creative sparks in others. With creative flames fully lit, we shine brightly as a planet filled with those who are living their passion; their purpose.

Fernando has been in a multitude of creative environments: in the recording studio, both as Recording Engineer and as Session Musician; on the film set as Soundtrack and Foley Artist; on the live music stage with locally and nationally recognized artists as well as maintaining a hobby of stand-up comedy. His live performances are infused with spirituality as developed by self-study in Lightwork, Breathwork, Conscious Work, Yoga and Meditation.

As a young adult, Fernando traveled to India to study the Tabla drums. He studied with great masters, formed deep connections with others and within himself as to the nature of vibration, emotion, synchronicity, compassion and gratitude.

Being of Cuban descent, Fernando is often asked how he got connected to Indian culture. In response, he speaks of the strong sense of familiarity that both Hispanics and Indians develop amongst themselves. How complete strangers can become like family rather quickly. As such, Fernando was figuratively adopted by several families during his travels throughout India. The photos on display were taken by him as well as the field recordings that are filling and creating the space for INDIA: AS IT IS. Fernando will also render a live performance based on his love of Indian classical music as well as the avant garde. He can be followed on Facebook at Universal Rhythm and on Instagram @miamitabla.
