Independent Filmmakers Workshop
Workshop 1: Camera Basics and Movement
We will learn how to position a camera to record for filmmaking (both for cinema and documentary) and how angles and movement make interesting scenes. In addition,we will also explore differences in lenses as well as depth of field and the rule of thirds to make footage more dynamic.
Workshop Breakdown:
- Camera types and frames
- Settings and exposure: ISO, Aperture, and Zebra
- Types of shots: Extreme Long, Long, Mid, Close, Extreme Close
- Lenses and when and how to use them
- Discussion on Depth of Field and Rule of Thirds
About the Instructor
Wesley D'Andre Miller Jr. of The Backroom Crew is a local filmmaker and screenplay writer. He's worked on numerous projects including a web series and commercials for local businesses in the area. From pre/post production, video editing, lighting, sound design and distribution, Wes has experience at every level of the filmmaking process. Documentary and narrative cinematography are his preferred film projects. His overall goal to the community is to support anyone dedicated to creating the best film possible from a one minute short to a two-hour epic narrative.
