Independent Contractors VS Employees: Roles, Rules, & Risks [Lunch & Learn]
Presented by Dave Watson, VP Of Legal Accountability and Compliance Services, NYCON
July 25th, 2013 11:00am to 12:30pm
How certain are you that individuals you classify as Independent Contractors are actually what you claim? How certain are you that the NYS Department of Labor would agree with your conclusion? What are the potential risks associated with your worker classification scheme?
These questions and more will be answered as NYCON presents “Independent Contractor vs. Employee: Roles, Rules and Risks.”
In this Webinar, the nature of both Employment and Independent Contractor relationships, especially as they pertain to nonprofit organizations, will be examined with an eye toward determining who in your organization should be placed in each category.
Special emphasis will be provided on reviewing NYS Department of Labor rules regarding employee classifications and the various issues that might arise in the event workers are misclassified. The goal of the program is to provide your organization with a detailed understanding of the decisions regarding classification schemes so that necessary adjustments can be enacted prevented unwanted and potentially damaging consequences.
