NACOLE, in partnership with the ACLU of Puerto Rico, is proud to announce its next event in their 2016 Regional Meeting Series. This May, those working to establish and enhance external oversight mechanisms will gather in San Juan Puerto Rico to discuss the issues of Independence, Transparency, and Accountability in policing.
Join oversight practitioners, academics, community members, students, law enforcement officials, and others as they learn about important aspects of effective oversight and the steps to establish or enhance enduring oversight mechanisms. Topics to be covered during this important one-day event will include the following:

Overview of civilian oversight

Basic principals, mechanisms, and methods for installing oversight

Engagement of community and government actors

Access to public documents in Puerto Rico and the importance of accessible data

Independence, transparency, and accountability
In addition to hearing from presenters, attendees will have the opportunity to network with their fellow attendees NACOLE Regional Event allow those working in, for, and around civilian oversight to gain knowledge and the opportunity to establish additional connections with those doing similar work in the area of police accountability.
