Event Details

Come explore how EC-12 Texas educators can foster linguistic and cultural inclusion within social studies classrooms. The keynote presentations and breakout sessions will relate this goal to college and career readiness. Some highlights include research detailing K-12 educators' perceptions of what linguistic supports they need, guidance on using QR-codes to link your classroom to web-based resources, a QR-linked website with Spanish language resources, and presentation of a QR-linked website containing Spanish and Korean language versions of the Social Studies College and Career Readiness Standards.  Breakout sessions will include university faculty, graduate students, and EC-12 social studies educators offering sessions with tips and resources to increase linguistic inclusion within the social studies.  Many of the sessions are linked to Spanish language instructional resources. Consider bringing your laptop, smart phone, and/or iPad to engage in real time with the Institute resources and to explore (and even download, if you want) applications to create and utilize Q-codes as instructional tools!  This event is made possible by a grant from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
