Incorporating Your Ed Tech Startup

As your startup grows, you will need to consider what type of entity it should be. Come learn in the ins and outs of incorporation from the lawyers at WilmerHale, a law firm with a comprehensive range of practice areas that are critical to the success of emerging companies and an education practice focused on higher education. The firm is also a leader in pro bono work, having handled several cases involving public schools.
You will learn:
- what types of entities exist and the benefits and drawbacks of each
- Massachusetts B corps, a new type of business entity with public benefit
- specific legal issues you need to consider as an ed tech startup
This class will be highly interactive and limited to 30 students to ensure that you have ample time to both interact with the instructors and your peers.
Food and soft drinks will be provided.

Meet The Instructors
Gary Schall
Gary Schall is a counsel in the Corporate Practice Group. He joined the firm in 2012. Mr. Schall’s practice focuses on a wide range of corporate, financial and business management matters. He has represented top-tier venture capital firms, emerging growth companies, and private and public company clients in a variety of matters, including fund formation, securities compliance, governance, financing transactions, and complex mergers and acquisitions.
Wendell Taylor
Wendell Taylor is a partner in the Corporate Practice Group, and a member of the Mergers and Acquisitions Practice Group. He joined the firm in 1995. Wendell serves on the firm's Hiring Committee, and is co-chair of the Diversity Committee. Wendell's practice focuses on domestic and international corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, venture capital financings, initial public offerings and continuing public company reporting requirements.
