Incorporating Pets into Homebirth
Sat, March 25, 2017, 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM EDT
Pets are considered part of the family and are often present during a homebirth. They can provide an additional source of comfort for the person in labor and other members of the family. Pets can become anxious when new people are in the home or when their routine is changed which can be a safety concern. This presentation will teach why including pets in the birth plan is important as well as how to avoid common safety concerns. This presentation will focus on how to recognize early warning signs of stress and anxiety in dogs and cats, methods to prevent worsening of aggression, and supporting the bond between pets and their people.
