Opportunity means that every member of our community has an equitable chance at economic success. Unfortunately, in an economy that is often described as “booming”, many Charlotteans – especially people of color – are being left behind. Wages have not kept pace with the rise in the cost of living and disparities in wealth, accrued over generations, have excluded many individuals and groups from opportunities to advance economically.

Hear from a distinguished panel of researchers, authors, and community leaders on how income and wealth inequality in our community has limited opportunity for all and innovative policy and program solutions that can help families get on and stay on the path to financial security.

Speakers:

Robert E. (Bob) Friedman - Founder and Chair Emeritus of Prosperity Now, formerly the Corporation for Enterprise Development (CFED)

Carrie B. Cook - Founding Executive Director of GreenLight Fund Charlotte

Gene R. Nichol - Boyd Tinsley Distinguished Professor of Law at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

Event Sponsors:

Care Ring, Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy, Communities in Schools, Crisis Assistance Ministry, Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont, Leading on Opportunity, Urban League of the Central Carolinas, YMCA of Greater Charlotte

A boxed lunch will be served
