Event description

Description

The Inclusive Pedagogy Reading Group welcomes faculty, instructors, postdocs, and graduate students who want to explore topics around inclusion, teaching and learning. This winter quarter, we will read and discuss Teaching to Transgress by bell hooks.

Goodreads describes the book in this way: "In Teaching to Transgress, bell hooks--writer, teacher, and insurgent black intellectual--writes about a new kind of education, education as the practice of freedom. Teaching students to "transgress" against racial, sexual, and class boundaries in order to achieve the gift of freedom is, for hooks, the teacher's most important goal."

Do you agree? If so, how might we achieve this? If not, for what should we aim? Come join the discussion.

The reading group is limited to 40 participants; please register to participate as soon as possible.
