Event description

Description

This class will be offered once in 2017 for those who did not take the class in 2016.

The subject of this workshop is Implicit Bias.

In his book, Everyday Bias: Identifying and Navigating Unconscious Judgments in our Daily Lives, Howard Ross says “Ultimately we believe our decisions are consistent with our conscious beliefs, when in fact, our unconscious is running the show.” As you make decisions in the course of your work, what thought have you given to the impact of your unconscious mind on those decisions? In this workshop we will explore the role of the unconscious mind and the implicit bias that resides there even as we consciously strive to make decisions resulting in equity and inclusion. You will practice using strategies to address implicit bias both individually and institutionally to support our desired outcomes.
