Event description

Description

Inclusion Matters is a year-long conference, taking place in four parts, that examines essential elements of inclusion and the benefits of diversity in order to develop more equitable and productive environments. This year's conference will focus on race and race relations, scaffolding increasingly challenging topics and concepts related to building more inclusive environments.

This conference will be useful for educators, students, and community members alike who are interested in becoming more informed on issues of inclusion. From faculty members who would like to enhance their course curriculum and increase their level of cultural fluency, to students interested in thinking more critically and learning to more effectively engage in issues of diversity, to anyone interested in increasing their understanding of diversity issues in order to better support inclusive and equitable environments, Inclusion Matters presents an opportunity for all to engage.

Part II (on Friday, December 1) of the Inclusion Matters Conference builds on the learning and discussions that took place in Part I, though prior attendance is not required for participation. With a more focused look at race and race relations, groups will be invited to engage in brave spaces where authentic dialogue can occur. One of the goals of Part II is to allow for discussion about the diversity and intersectionality of our communities as well as to identify productive and effective ways to productively interface with issues of race.

Part III on February 23, 2018

Part IV on April 27, 2018
