Description

About this Event:

Join the Minnesota College Professionals Association for our annual Inclusion Institute. This year the theme of the institute is Moving Beyond Individual Acts and Towards Liberation. We hope to focus the day on how our institutions of higher education, specifically within Student Affairs/Life offices, can work towards system change moving beyond responding to individual student needs and meeting needs proactively. With questions please contact mcpa4you@gmail.com.

About our Presenters:

Dr. David Everett, Hamline University Associate Vice President of Inclusive Excellence

At Hamline, Everett’s newly-created position will work with faculty, staff and students alike to foster equality of opportunity across Hamline’s educational spectrum. Everett earned his associate of arts degree in liberal arts from Monroe Community College in Rochester, New York in 1991. He then earned a bachelor of arts degree in business administration from Kentucky State University in Frankfort, Kentucky in 1994, followed by a mini-MBA certificate in public administration and management from Hamline in 2004. He later earned a masters of divinity degree in leadership and his doctorate of philosophy, also in leadership, from Luther Seminary in St. Paul. Everett has also held teaching and diversity-related positions with Gustavus Adolphus College, the State of Minnesota IT Services Office, Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative in St. Paul, Luther Seminary and the Minnesota National Guard. He is a certified federal mediator and a member of the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA).

Nasreen Mohammed, Director of Student Engagement for International Student and Scholar Services

The focus of Nasreen's work is to build strong collaborations across campus to enhance a sense of belonging for international students at the University of Minnesota and to promote the contributions of international students to their colleges and departments. Prior to joining with ISSS, Nasreen worked at Minneapolis Community and Technical College as the Director of Power of YOU, a recruitment and retention program that served under-represented students.
