Born a slave, Harriet Jacobs was constantly tormented by her master; and finding no other way to escape his unwanted advances, she went into hiding for nearly seven years.
Incidents Play was adapted from Harriet's 1861 slave narrative and accounts her incredible story of how she found the strength to overcome adversity. Intertwined with rich Negro spirituals and rhythmic choreography, her words comes to life on stage in a resounding performance that undoubtedly speaks about hope and the healing power of faith.
Are there ID or minimum age requirements?
If you are a student or under 18 years of age you may purchase a Student Admission ticket. College students must show school ID or a current class schedule at the door for entry.
Incidents Play is appropriate for ages 10+ since there is some strong language. Children under the age of 4 are not permitted in the theatre.
What are my parking options?
Street and lot parking is available free of charge.
Are there any restrictions?
Food and drinks are not permitted inside the theatre. Still and video photography is not allowed during performances. We recommend you enjoy living in the moment and witnessing art as it unfolds; not through your camera screen.
How long is the performance?
The current running time is 2.5 hours with a 15-minute intermission.
Will you provide for late seating?
Late seating is at the discretion of management.
Are there standing room only (SRO) tickets?
SRO tickets are available at the Box Office on the day of the performance and will only be sold when the performance is sold out.
What is the refund policy?
There is no refunds for purchased tickets or merchandise.
