Description

The South Fulton Business Coalition is celebrating National Women's Small Business Month by empowering and educating women in business! American Express Open in 2013 declared the State of Georgia as the fastest growth in women-owned businesses in the country. As of 2012, according to the National Women’s Small Business Council, the state has nearly 377,000 firms owned by women, which is a 35.3 percent increase from 2007. These businesses account for 41.1 percent of all privately held firms in the state. White women have the largest number of firms in the state totaling 175,964 firms which account for over $37 billion in receipts. Asian women have the second highest receipt total at slightly over $4 billion for 23,966 firms and black women produced nearly $3.5 billion in receipts via 153, 513 firms. Hispanic women-owned business grew by 92.8 percent with black women growing by 73 percent.

Join us for a day of seminars that will aid you in continuing to build successful and sustainable businesses. The event will consist of the following concepts:

Speed Networking! We believe in networking and connecting here at the SFBC. No one comes to our events and leaves a stranger. You never know who is in the room as it could be your next client, partner or that connection you were looking for. Instead of the typical ‘go work the room’, we are going to use this as our way to wake up people up and get them ready for the day. Attendees can continue to enjoy their refreshments while networking.

Selling to Sustainability! Sales are the lifeblood of any business. No matter if you are a profit or non-profit firm, everyone must move products and services. This session will address fear in selling along with proper techniques of how to truly vet prospects, approach and close the deals. In addition, attendees will learn about high levels of sales such as selling to mid-size firms, making the right pitch on the first try and the art of following up!

Financing the Dream! Teamwork may make the dream work but financial liquidity makes a stable vision. For those who are working nine to five gigs, you must realize that can’t pay for your dream forever. Also, how do you build and develop business credit? What type of relationship should you have with your financial institution? For those who are crowdfunding, learn the do’s and don’ts of a successful campaign to avoid looking like a cyber-panhandler.

Power Luncheon: State of Women Businesses in South Fulton. How are women in business doing locally in our communities? Our speakers will present the outlook of Southwest Atlanta and South Fulton to assist you in positioning and preparing your business. During this luncheon, sponsors, and the event host will speak briefly to the crowd. Lunch will be served featuring a vegan option for non-meat eaters.

Turning Networking into Connections! Don’t be a career networker! Start making connections that you can utilize. Yes, it’s great to have nearly 5,000 Facebook friends but you should not constantly spam them nor just attend networking events for sake of attending them. Learn how to leverage relationships to open greater doors for your business!

Technology and Your Business! So many technical advances are taking place in the business marketplace that it’s hard to keep up. Our technology experts tell you about the latest apps that provide business hacks on making business easier. With Google being your best friend or worst enemy in the digital era, are you fully control of your business identity. Are you searchable? Can people stumble across you? Or you buried on page 40 of a Google search?

Legal Basics and You! The legal forms at the office supply store are not always your friend when it comes to making contracts nor can you create business policies that override laws. Sometimes, some of your documents may not even hold up in court. This session provides some do’s and don’ts on keeping it legal and avoiding litigation.

Costs $25 early bird includes the cost of lunch and unlimited beverages! Deal ends on Sept. 30
