Event description
INACTIC aims to define the core competencies of ICU nurses working at an advanced level and to develop a curriculum from these competencies.

About this Event

The International Nursing Advanced Competency-based Training for Intensive Care (INACTIC) project started in October 2017 after a sub-committee of the Nurses & Allied Healthcare Professionals Committee of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM) secured a grant of €142,000 from the EU Erasmus Plus fund to develop an international set of competencies and education resources for Advanced Level Critical Care Nurses. Besides the ESICM, the official partner institutions involved are the University of Plymouth (UK), Ghent University (Belgium), Region Hovedstaden (Denmark), and ICUsteps (UK).

Today, the competencies have been identified and prioritized following a three-round Delphi study including intensive care nurses, educators, patients and their relatives from across Europe. Additionally, they have been tested on an international level to determine their applicability, feasibility and acceptability. Finally, they have been the basis for developing a specific curriculum for Advanced Level Critical Care Nurses.

The event will showcase project outputs, including the competences and the curriculum, and full participation requires no prior knowledge of the project. It will use an interactive workshop format to illustrate how the outputs from the project can be used, steps needed to embed the competencies and to develop networks between providers for mutual support. Besides, it is a wonderful opportunity for networking and sharing expertise.

The event is free of charge and all interested are most welcome!
