Watermill Artists-in-Residence, Yiannis Christofides and William Stewart, invite the community to explore their work through In Process @ The Watermill Center. In Process @ The Watermill Center invites the community to engage with our resident artists on Saturday afternoons through open rehearsals, workshops, studios visits, lectures or artists talks.
During his Watermill residency, Yiannis Christofides and PHYSICAL PLASTIC – a recently formed LA-based theater project between Kestrel Leah (UK) and Yiannis Christofides (Cyprus) – will create a stage performance based on security alarms titled ALARM (Working Title). They plan to utilize the resources at The Watermill Center to further reveal the structure of the performance, create a full choreography score, and finalize design elements.
William Stewart plans to develop monoprints that extend on ideas in his watercolor paintings started in Venice. Although he has painted with watercolor previously, these works mark a shift away from the figurative and towards abstraction. The New Mexico–based artist looks forward to witnessing how the landscape of Long Island’s East End will inform these new works.
