Event Details

This is a full-day training session to learn how to use two tools for quantifying energy efficiency and renewable energy actions into county-level changes in emissions, air pollution and health impacts benefits, AVERT and COBRA.

The AVoided Emissions and geneRation Tool (AVERT) estimates the emission benefits of energy efficiency (EE) and renewable energy (RE) policies and programs.

The CO-Benefits Risk Assessment tool (COBRA) estimates the health and related economic benefits of clean energy policies and reductions in criteria air pollutants.

Upon completing this training, you will be able to:

nUnderstand how AVERT and COBRA work independently and together so you can run your own analysis of avoided emissions and public health benefits.

nTranslate an EE, RE, or other clean energy program or policy into input numbers (GWh and MW for AVERT and tons for COBRA).

nRecognize what types of scenarios can be run with the AVERT Main Module and COBRA default data and what scenarios require more sophisticated input assumptions.

nProvide basic guidance on inputs to others interested in using AVERT and COBRA models.

nKnow where to get help on questions about using the tools.

WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING:

Your laptop with the AVERT main module and COBRA downloaded.

>>Download AVERT .xls file: www.epa.gov/avert

>>Download and install COBRA: www.epa.gov/cobra

You will receive more details via email to help you prepare for the training.
