About this event
A Note About Ticket Types:
There are three different Ticket Types. You will need to choose the appropriate one in order to register.
WA State Weatherization (WX) Agency, Tribal, or WA State Department of Commerce Staff:
Those who are employees of a Commerce-recognized WA State Wx Agency, a staff member of one of WA State's Tribes (with approval by Commerce), or Commerce staff. The list of Commerce-recognized WA State Weatherization Agencies can be viewed here.
WA State Wx Agency-Associated Contractor:
Contractors working under one of the WA State Wx Agencies (see above). At registration, you will be required to list the WA State Wx Agency(ies) you are associated with.
General Public/Non-Associated Contractor:
Those who neither work for nor under (as a contractor) one of the WA State Wx Agencies (see above).
Course Description:
This IN-PERSON Building Analyst (BA) course is a 2.5 day (18 hour) training. It is designed to provide new and current Building Analysts the knowledge and skills included in the Building Performance Institute (BPI) BA certification. Instruction will include elements from the BPI BA Testing Knowledge List as well as Blower Door and Combustion Safety testing according to ANSI/BPI 1200 standard.

Course Content & Objectives:
- Building Science and Building Systems
- Describe building science concepts
- Describe and identify all systems and components of a home
- Applicable Standards
- Identify and review standard requirements and limits for work on homes
- Navigation of Reference Documents
- Identify sections of the BPI 1200 Standard
- Blower Door and Pressure Diagnostics
- Identify and describe operation of BD equipment
- List and apply all blower door and pressure testing procedures
- Read and interpret all results gained from BD and Pressure testing
- Combustion Appliances and Equipment
- Identify and describe different combustion appliances and equipment for testing and their important features
- Combustion Safety Testing Procedures
- List and interpret CS testing procedures and describe how to complete each
- Interpret results of testing correctly and identify applicable limits and corrections based on BPI 1200 standard
Course Requirements:

- BPC provided online Learning Management System – Moodle link to be sent by BPC
- Expectation of attendance and class participation
Prerequisites and Work Experience:
- 12-24 months field experience recommended
- Familiarity with Reference Materials
- BPI Core Certification Scheme Handbook
- Current BPI 1200 Standard
Assessments and Grading:
- All assessments will be multiple choice question style
- In-progress assessment activities throughout
- One final assessment
- Candidate must achieve a 70% or higher to pass the final assessment
