In Her Own Words: Stories from Our Journey, Denver
Sunday, August 25, 2013 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM (MDT)
Storytelling was an important part of community life for hundreds of years because it was a very personal way to share and preserve the emotions of historical events and cultural struggles through each person's experience. We are keeping that vibrant storytelling tradition alive by inviting women to tell their stories and pass along women's history to a new generation.
Many women have seen and experienced events others don't, they have faced ridiculous challenges simply because they are a woman, they accomplished what others said couldn't be done, and broken down barriers that no one thought possible. We want to keep those eyewitness accounts of women's vibrant history alive as a testament to how far we have come, what challenges we have overcome, and how much we have accomplished.
Join us, Sarah Zacharias, LadySpeech Sankofa, Marina Bajszár, Linda Theus-Lee, Mari Carlin-Dart, Cecelia Lankutis, Eva Salomón, Barbara Avent, and Flodie Anderson for Women's Equality Day and share women's history, one story at a time.
