Prof. Dr. Numan Kurtulmus obtained his BA and MA degrees at Istanbul University's School of Management. He received his Ph.D degree at the Istanbul University as well in 1992, and also became an assistant professor at the same university in 1994. He was a visiting scholar student at Cornell University, U.S. during his dissertation work, and worked there as a part-time lecturer. He has authored numerous articles and two books, entitled Transformation in post-Industrialization and The Japanese Model for the Human Resource Management. He lectured at the Istanbul University's School of Economics on social politics, labor economics and human resources management. He was promoted to the rank of professor in 2004. Kurtulmus became Istanbul provincial head of the Virtue Party (1998) and a member of the party’s General Administrative Board. Later he served as Istanbul Provincial head of Virtue Party and deputy chair. Kurtulmus was elected for the chair of the Felicity Party (SP) at the Third Ordinary Congress of the Party on 26 October 2008. On November 1, 2010, Kurtulmus founded a new party, the People's Voice Party (HAS Party), of which he was elected leader on November 28, 2010. In September 2012, HAS Party dissolved itself and joined the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) with a majority of its delegates’ votes. Kurtulmus was elected Vice-Chair of AK Party in charge of Economic Affairs upon his joining the party.
Prof. Wouter den Haan is a professor of economics at the London School of Economics, research fellow and programmae director of the CEPR, editor of the Economic Journal (Royal Economic Society) and consultant to the Bank of England.
