Julie Maloney, director of WOMEN READING ALOUD, an international writing community, will host a virtual "In Conversation" event with author, ISLA MORLEY.
Isla Morley grew up in South Africa during apartheid, the child of a British father and fourth-generation South African mother. In 1994 she was one of the youngest magazine editors in South Africa, but left career, country and kin when she married an American and moved to California. The Last Blue, her third novel, was selected by the Southern Fiction Review of Books as a “must-read” Best Book of May 2020. It has been translated into French. Her debut novel, Come Sunday, was awarded Janet Heidinger Kafka Prize for Fiction, was a finalist for the Commonwealth Prize, and was longlisted for The Sunday Times award. It has been translated into seven languages. Above was chosen as a Best Buzz Books 2014 by Publishers Lunch and was an IndieNext must-read. She has lived in some of the most culturally diverse places of the world, including Cape Town, London and Honolulu. Now in the Los Angeles area, she shares a home with her husband, their daughter and a menagerie of pets.
