Event description

Description

Join three acclaimed artists for a conversation on art, artists, communities, and social change.

Enrique Martinez Celaya is an American artist whose work consists of paintings, sculpture, photography, poetry, and prose presented in contexts he calls environments. His practice pushes the boundaries and limits of art, literature, philosophy, and religion. Celaya has been named the first person to hold the position of Provost Professor of Humanities and Arts at USC.

Dan McCleary is an L.A. based artist, and founder and executive director of Art Division, a nonprofit organization offering professional arts training and academic and career support to young adults in the underserved MacArthur Park community in Los Angeles.

Demian Flores is among the most singular of a new generation of Mexican artists whose aesthetic is conceptual and characterized by an openness to contemporary art. Rather than create an overriding narrative, Flores creates webs of meaning which examine sociocultural phenomena in a new and highly personal light. Flores is also the founder of Oaxaca based artist collective, La Curtiduria.
