February 1964 was the month of the Big Bang of popular culture, with the Beatles debut on the Ed Sullivan show and the chart debut of “Meet the Beatles!” By the spring, The Beatles had the Top 5 songs on the Billboard Hot 100, and this spring-58 years later—we’ll be celebrating! As of May 9, 1964, The Beatles had placed 18 songs on the Billboard Hot 100— including “I Want To Hold Your Hand”, “P.S. I Love You”, “ Twist and Shout” “She Loves You”, “All My Loving” “Roll Over Beethoven”, “I Saw Her Standing There” , “Thank You Girl’, “Love Me Do”, and “From Me To You”. Their UK friends followed, and two from Liverpool-Mr. Billy J. Kramer and, formerly of the Hollies and the Swinging Blue jeans, Mr. Terry Sylvester—will join us. From Billy, “ I Call Your Name” “Bad To Me”, “Do You Want to Know a Secret”, “From A Window”, and “I’ll Keep You Satisfied”—all Lennon and McCartney compositions—are on tap. Expect Terry to deliver “The Hippy Hippy Shake” , “Bus Stop”, “I Can’t Let Go” and “Long Cool Woman”.
The voice on classic records by the Buckinghams, Dennis Tufano, is back with us! “Kind of A Drag” and “Don’t You Care” are on tap, with the Beatles “I’ll be Back”—also found on the Bukcinghams’ “Time and Charges” LP—also in the mix.
We’re likely to add some special guests, so stay tuned!
