Many of us dream of landing a spot on CNN or the Today Show – media placement at its finest, right? But what if that dream is more of a nightmare that stems from a crisis of epic proportions?
The Cincinnati Zoo had to rally its PR team after unfortunate events this summer launched the zoo into the headlines for weeks. Our December luncheon will feature Chad Yelton and Michelle Curley from the Cincinnati Zoo, who will share their experiences handling what is arguably the worst PR crisis the zoo has experienced. Come learn how they managed the explosion of traditional news media and social media while balancing the sensitive subjects of animal and guest safety.
During the event, we’ll also be honoring Thane Maynard with the Presidents Award. The Presidents Award is the highest honor Cincinnati PRSA can bestow on an individual who is outside the PR industry but uses public relations essentials like strategy, storytelling and brand building to make a positive impact on the Cincinnati community. Thane Maynard has always worked to represent Cincinnati and its world-famous zoo in the best light and has proven his expertise at communicating with various audiences throughout his career. Thane will join Chad and Michelle for a Q&A as part of our session.

Free parking is available outside of the United Way Building.
Can I pay at the event instead of when I register?
Per PRSA Chapter bylaws, non-member reservations must be paid prior to the event. PRSA Cincinnati Chapter members only also have the option to pay at the event, or can send a check as payment prior to the event.
In order to take advantage of this option, register as you normally would. In the payment section of the register page, change the payment method to "pay at the door" or "pay by check". The fields to enter card information will disappear, and you will be able to continue your registration. Please follow the instructions to complete your registration, and click the button to confirm.
For payments made by members at the event, we accept check, cash or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover). If you require an invoice, please use the email confirmation that is sent to you - you may also email email@example.com, and we can provide an invoice for you.
Please also note, all registrations, including those to be paid at the event, are subject to our reservation and refund policy. Any member not paying in advance who no shows or cancels after the reservation deadline will still be responsible for payment of their ticket.
Do I need to bring a copy of my email confirmation or a ticket?
If you received a confirmation email after registering, it means we have you in our system as registered for the event. You do not need to bring a copy of the confirmation email or a ticket.
What if this event is sold out?
Space for this event is limited. If the event sells out, there will be an option to add yourself to a waitlist. If additional space opens up, we will contact those on the waitlist on a first-come, first-served basis with instructions on how to register. If there is a waiting list, you will be able to add your name even after the registration deadline.
We will only contact those on the waiting list when a spot opens. Please note, due to last minute cancelations, we will contact you as late as the morning of the event.
