About this event

This two-part workshop is ideal for members of Concertino Strings, String Orchestra, Wind Orchestra (only first session), CHIME at Proctors, Jazz middle school musicians.

Want to create your own music but not sure where to begin? Already creating but ready for some tips and new ideas?

This two-part workshop starts at the very beginning of the creative process: finding an idea. We will explore how to develop that idea in various ways through both improvisation (music-making in the moment) and composition (pre-planned ideas). We will open our ears to the possibilities for music-making through sound exploration, learn how to develop ideas, and provide tools for continued music creation after the workshops.

Part One: Saturday, April 24, 2021 | 2:00pm-3:00pm

Part Two: Saturday, May 1, 2021 | 2:00pm-3:00pm

The sessions will be hands-on, so bring your instrument and expect to create and share ideas. These workshops are open to all instruments, musical styles, and prior improvisation/composition experience levels.

Workshop facilitated by ESYO Alum, Fulbright Scholar, and Professional Percussionist Hannah Dick.
