Improving Your World Language Teaching: What Does High-Quality Teaching Loo...
Wed, August 16, 2017, 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM EDT
This interactive, hands-on workshop series will explore current best practices in the teaching of World Languages. Topics will include the World Readiness Standards for Learning Languages, the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines, and current Second Language Acquisition theories and concrete best practices.
Research in Second Language Acquisition Theory and national guidelines have drastically changed the definition of best practices for the teaching of World Languages in the last 10-20 years. Many educators are unsure of how to apply these changes to their own classrooms. The purpose of this workshop is to provide an “injection” of current information for world language educators who are dedicated to providing first class world language experience for their students. All participants will leave this workshop with:
1. a detailed understanding of what high quality language teaching is in 2017
2. a solid, theoretical foundation to improve their world language teaching
3. a series of exciting, concrete activities to immediately improve their students´ learning
